Weekly Fishing Report for 04/10/2003

Fishing conditions have improved since last week for walleye in the rivers. Due to the large amount of rain received last week and cold temperatures the spawning run in the Sandusky and Maumee Rivers were extremely poor at the start of the week; however, over the past few days the water levels have receded and the water has cleared up. A warming trend is predicted for the next few days which should improve walleye fishing conditions. Anglers were catching male and pre-spawn walleye on the western basin reefs and around the Bass Islands before the weather turned nasty late last week. Due to the high winds very little activity has been reported on the lake proper.
Steelhead fishing conditions are improving daily as water levels decline and the water clears up.
Anglers are cautioned to exercise extreme care when wadding streams in the spring, water temperatures are still cold and can be dangerous.
