FISHING TIPS
The Palomar knot

The Palomar Knot is very easy knot to tie, exceptionally strong, and very popular with many anglers for tying swivels, hooks, lures, or jig heads.  This knot can be learned to be tied by feel which will help when fishing under darkness.

Step 1.  Double about four inches of line the end of the line and pass the loop through the hook eye as shown in Figure 1.

Step 2.  Double the loop back, then make an overhand knot around the standing line, leaving a large enough for the hook, swivel or lure to pass back through (Figure 2).   Avoid twisting the line and don't over tighten. Palomar knot pic 2

Step 3  Pass the swivel, lure or hook through the loop.  Make sure the loop passes completely as shown in Figure 3. Palomar knot pic 3

Step 4 Wet the loose knot and pull the tag end while holding the standing line to tighten the knot.  Trim the tag end and the knot will be compact and effective.   Palomar knot pic 4
